“The Joy of Color” (sheets of paper painted with homemade egg tempera)

This year, I taught myself how to make egg tempera paint from scratch — egg yolk, water and powdered pigment. Calling Johannes Vermeer and Andrew Wyeth! And Koo Schadler, a contemporary mistress of this ancient medium who teaches online. My inspiration for this project was an infection among my chicken flock. The medication rendered their eggs inedible for several months. I felt so guilty discarding all those beautiful eggs! To mix a metaphor, lemons became lemonade. See today’s entry on my Art blog for another result.
